Day 10: Gettin' Er Done

After staying up late working on homework and falling asleep to a movie...We slept in til 9 and enjoyed as usual a yummy breakfast. Today was deemed a school and much needed  laundry day so we quickly began gathering our stinky clothes and separating them into dark and white piles to be ready for the washer and clothesline. As a team we then sat around the table and worked on our study guide. Each of us had chosen a section to lookup and now we took turn teaching our sections to the rest of the team as they took notes.  Around noon we took a break to enjoy a African-Italian lunch of pasta with meat sauce and toasted butter bread. Throughout the meal you could hear all of us either humming or singing the Ghanaian worship song we had learned the day before. Eventually even Ma Grace was joining in our chorus from the kitchen.
After lunch we worked on our community project til late afternoon. I must admit working on school work when you are in the middle of a new exciting country is a hard thing to do, we were all staring longingly out the window. So when we took a break some of us went to get a coke and cookies at a small stand outside the compound and some of us went for a run to stretch our legs and squeeze in some Aerobic points, which in this heat should get us some extra credit :D. Dinner included our favorite -fried plantains! After which the power went out for a long spell so we used the time to praise Jesus with our new Ghanaian song. Afterwards Abby taught us a new game of rhythm and clapping which had us all laughing and competing quite aggressively for top place. Even Ms. Poore was determined not to stay in what she called the "the loser seat".

The lights then flickered on and we had to stop the game and get back to work on our projects until bedtime. Power outages here can be annoying but many times it makes us stop and enjoy the moment and each other.
